The Center for Surgery Center for FGM is a non-profit corporation located in Atlanta, Georgia. We are the only center in the United States that is entirely dedicated to victims of female genital mutilation. We provide both psychological and psychiatric counseling, along with reconstruction surgery, to help our patients reclaim their bodies and restore their sense of self.
At our surgery center, we understand that FGM is a sensitive and personal issue. We offer a compassionate and understanding approach to care, ensuring that our patients feel comfortable throughout the entire process. Our team of highly skilled surgeons and healthcare professionals is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable environment for our patients.
We have been seeing patients for five years, and the results that we’re getting are very gratifying. We’re seeing people that were happy with their results, and their most common reply to us is, “I feel whole again, and something that was taken from me has been restored.” We’re proud to be making a difference in the lives of women affected by this harmful practice.
Our patients come to us from all across the United States and even from Africa for surgery. Many are referred to us by non-profit organizations that are advocates against FGM, while others find us through the internet. As a global team of providers, we hope to treat those affected by FGM and prevent others from ever being brutalized. We realize that this is a sensitive and personal issue, and we honor cultural differences throughout the treatment period. Patients are encouraged to ask questions, share difficulties, and become comfortable with the surgeons and staff. We make every effort to accommodate our patients’ needs, including their travel schedule, and make information available regarding hotels and transportation while in Atlanta.
